“Aesop. . . under the Highway”

When a group of high school kids
realize there's a reason why their
janitor is named after the Ancient
Greek story teller, Aesop -- their world
takes a rather interesting twist.
                                  (from scene 1)
Students:

What kind a name? -- a silly name
Is a freaking, Greeking, all together
What he geekin’
He be speakin’
‘bout animals in r hood

Now this Aesop fame is lame
Could’a gone under another name
Like maybe Ron or even Tom
My mom would’a called ya Don or John

He from underneat 'da highway
Won’t be doing things the flyway
Cause he knowin’ what we doin’
And our drama he be ruinin’

See, we know what be the game
But none of us here are much to blame
The way that things go down around’ here
The only fear we have
Is that we’re – each of us real hip
Not playin’ for the flip - side

Is that Ize cooler than that

Aesop Under the Highway”  is recommended
for grade 3 through high school. It is packed
with 50 minutes of contemporary, upbeat
music, lots of dance and a message that will
stimulate discussion. It's the best way to
bring Aesop’s fables into the 21st century.
